My Package Arrived....

I recently purchased Unexpected Afghans by Robyn Chachula and saw a nice blanket done in Tusinian crochet. I've never done this before but I like a challenge. Of course I didn't have the right hook to start the project....and when I see something that catches my eye I like to start right away. So I started my search and ended at Get Knitted where I found KnitPro Symfonie Wood Interchangeable Tunisian Crochet Hooks. The price even including shipping was reasonable I thought compared to other brands and sites that I looked at. After six days of wondering how long it would take a package to arrive from the UK I went to the mail box and there they were- my hooks had arrived. I ordered two crochet hooks sizes J/10/6.00mm and a k/101/2/6.50mm as well as two cables in approx. 31in and 47in.

Finished Chevron Baby/Toddler Blanket

The blanket in the background of the above picture is one of the ones that I recently finished in a chevron pattern using RedHeart yarn in honeydew, delft blue, and aran. This workerd up pretty quickly using a knit chevron stich in a random pattern that included the basic k, k2tog, ssk and kfb stitches. The second picture is post blocking which helped to define the pattern more. I originally knitted this for my sister-in-law for her addition to the family. Very pleased with how this came out I am torn with whether to give or sale this one. Being that it is still warm outside and a knit blanket is not needed at the time I decided to place it for sale in my Etsy shop for know. Who knows what might happen...

Recent Knit & Crochet Projects

So here is what I have been working on lately.

Breezy Winter Baby Blanket (in progress)
I found this pattern on pickles.no and loved not only the design but the colors. This took me awhile because it just seemed like it would never end. Not knowing how this would come out I used Red Heart Super Saver acrylic yarn in the closes colors I could get to the picture on the website.
Finished

The finished blanket knitted in brown, tan, lemon, and coral. the blanket measures approximately 42.5 in x 40 in. before blocking. I struggled with whether or not to add a border or not... The only thing I dreaded about knitting up this blanket was weaving in the ends (still not finished). Since I've learned about knitting in the ends as you go and if I ever knit this again I will knit in the ends. This item has been added to my Etsy shop.

It's been awhile!

It's been awhile since I've posted. But I'm back with a few projects that I've been working on the past few months. I have stashes upon stashes of yarn that I've collected over the years and now I have a little spare time, as much as you can get with an active three year old running around, to knit and crochet some things. I've been able to complete 2 blankets and one that I'm adding the last row of border to.

Scouring the web and many crochet and knitting sites and blogs as well as Pinterest my creative juices have started to flow again and I have many ideas..... that seem brilliant that I want to see come to light.

Pictures to come.

A Few Extra Dollars...(part 2)

In addition to Opinion Outpost I also had been a previous member of Survey Spot and just recently reactivated my account. I am up $11.50 for a few hours of my time taking surveys over the past two weeks. They send a good number of survey invitations depending on the day. No you don't qualify for all surveys, that just depends on what the suveyer is looking for. Don't expect to get rich but if you like being able to give your opinion on topics, products, and services then this is a good site. Most surveys range anywhere from 5-25 minutes. The rewards for each survey ranges in the form of points or sweepstakes entries, details of this is included in the survey invitation. Points can be cashed out when your balance reaches $10.00 (or 1000 points). Even if you don't qualify for the survey sent in the invitation they always offer you the chance at another survey opportunity immediately...survey taking seems to be endless on this site if you have the time.

Something New...

I'm trying a new site that pays you to post things about them on your blog. Let's see how this is going to go. Here goes!

Should a dive steam in the unlucky volunteer?

A Few Extra Dollars...

Since I am a stay at home mom at the moment, i'm always looking for ways to earn a few extra dollars inn a legitamate way and without having to spend any money to do so. I've found a few things and one is Opinion Outpost. No your not going to get rich nor make a lot of money at once. It is a survey site where you earn a specified amount of money per survey depending on length and determined amount set forth but the survey company. I have earned up to $7.50 for survey for about 25 minutes of my time. I don't think this is bad when i'm not doing anything while watching tv. One plus which I think makes them different from other survey sites is:
1. They don't overload your inbox with surveys. I get maybe between 8-10 a day and sometimes less. Most of which I qualify for. I have noticed the more surveys you take the more survey invitations you get.
2. They don't watse your time with what seems like a survey (like some other sites do) to check to see if you qualify.
I have been a member of this site for a number of years now and yes you do receive payments/checks or even a giftcard if you choose. I have cashed out $20.00 before and fell off with taking surveys so I missed out on a lot of them. I started back taking surveys as of about a 1 1/2 months a go and is up $60. Although it may not seem like a lot but it's in my spare time, I don't take survey's everyday, and I get to place my opinions on products, services and entertainment to help shape these industries to better appeal to us...the consumer! I'm always looking for different things so i'll post other things I find.
